The Cultures of the 19th Asian Games

The Emblem

The emblem of the 19th Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou in 2022 is named "Surging Tides". The main graphic is composed of six elements: a fan-shaped design, Qiantang River, Qianjiang Tidal Bore, a race track, the Internet symbol, and a sun symbolizing the Olympic Council of Asia. The bottom part of the emblem features the city name and year of the event. The fan-shaped design reflects the culture and traditions of the Jiangnan region, while the race track represents athletic competition. The Internet symbol highlights Hangzhou's technological prominence, and the sun symbol captures the spirit of the Olympic Council of Asia. Qiantang River and Qianjiang Tidal Bore are the central images of the emblem. The green mountains and blue waters showcase the natural beauty of Hangzhou, and the rushing tidal bore conveys the spirit of the people of Zhejiang, who courageously face the challenges ahead. The emblem symbolizes the surge and development of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, as well as the solidarity and unity of the Olympic Council of Asia in the pursuit of progress.

The Mascot

The Jiangnan Memory robots, consisting of Cong Cong, Lian Lian, and Chen Chen, serve as the mascots for the Hangzhou Asian Games. Each robot represents a UNESCO World Heritage site in Hangzhou. Cong Cong, named after the jade cong from the Liangzhu Ancient City Ruins, symbolizes this cultural treasure. Lian Lian, named after the lotus leaves that carpet West Lake, represents this iconic natural wonder. Finally, Chen Chen embodies the grace and grandeur of Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal's Hangzhou section, famously spanning the magnificent Gongchen Bridge. Together, these robots showcase Hangzhou's rich cultural and natural heritage, bringing joy and excitement to sports enthusiasts worldwide.

The Torch

The "Xinhuo" torch, which means "passing on the torch," is the symbol of Asian Games. The design is inspired by the Liangzhu Culture, representing China's five thousand years of civilization. The torch has a solemn and profound design, reflecting China's exceptional creativity and manufacturing ability, combining natural sacred fire with intelligent technology. Raw materials are recorded on the blockchain to ensure traceability for authenticity. Laser engraving and anodizing processes are applied to the 1070 aluminum alloy metal parts. The handle is eco-friendly by using recyclable biomaterial, allowing it to be lightweight. The fuel source is biogas, providing a clean, safe, and reliable energy for the torch. The torch is passed from hand to hand, embodying the unity and passion of the Asian Games and the world's zeal for sports.

The Slogan

This year’s slogan is “Heart to Heart, @Future, which mean to express on the big stage of the Asian Games, the people of all countries have integrated and embraced each other, reflecting the ideal of the OCA family of unity and close embrace. At the same time, it conveys the hope of being confident and optimistic, defying challenges and embracing the bright future together. This is in line with the Olympic spirit of "always moving forward" and "faster, higher and stronger". To build a community with a shared future for Asia and mankind. And the symbol “@” , which not only represents the Internet of everything, but also fits the characteristics of Hangzhou's Internet city.
