Beijing West Railway Station has one main building and two station squares. The two squares are called North Square and South Square — you can enter/leave Beijing West Railway Station from both of them.

North Square: Mainly Used, Close to the City Center

  • Functions: ticket halls, bus stations, taxi stand

Close to the waiting rooms at the station and Beijing’s city center, North Square is the main square used for entering and leaving Beijing West Railway Station.
There are two tickets halls in North Square, located on Floor 1 and Basement 2.

A kilometer away from North Square lies the China Millennium Monument, which is a government museum to showcase Chinese culture and milestones.

South Square: Newly Built, Serves the Airport Express

  • Functions: ticket halls, bus stations, airport express, exits

Compared with North Square, South Square is further from Beijing’s city center. However, it serves the airport express between the train station and Beijing Capital International Airport. It also has two ticket halls (a west one and an east one) located on F1 of the square.

To kill time if you arrive at the station too early, South Square is close to Lotus Pond Park.

Transportation Around Beijing West Railway Station

  • Subway: The subway station is located on B1 inside Beijing West Railway Station. Metro lines 7 and 9 are available.
  • Bus: There are many bus stations distributed in both South Square and North Square. You can find the bus routes and how to get to there by reading the signs at the station.
  • Taxi: There are three taxi stands at Beijing West Railway Station. Two of them are located on B1 and B2, and one of them is located in North Square.
  • Airport express: It’s located in South Square.
