The China-Laos Railway is an international railway directly connected with China's railway network. The 1,035km railway starts from Kunming, Yunnan Province in China in the north, passes Yuxi (玉溪), Pu 'er (普洱)and Mohan border ports in China in the south, and then passes Moding border port in Laos to Vientiane, the capital of Laos. After the operation and customs clearance, passengers can travel from Kunming to Vientiane in about 10 hours. The opening of China-Laos railway also ended the history of no trains in Pu 'er City and Xishuangbanna (西双版纳) Prefecture.

The opening and operation of the China-Laos Railway is of great significance to closer economic, social and cultural cooperation and exchanges between the two countries, to speed up the building of a China-Laos economic corridor and a China-Laos community with a shared future. In addition, as an important backbone of the Trans-Asian Railway, the China-Laos Railway will also have a positive impact on the China-Asean Free Trade Area and the greater Mekong Sub-region economic cooperation.

The Beautiful Railway Stations

Actually, a total of 11 passenger railway stations have been built from Yuxi to Mohan in China. From north to south, they are E’shan Railway Station, Huanian Railway Station, Yuanjiang Railway Station, Mojiang Railway Station, Ning’er Railway Station, Pu'er Railway Station, Yexianggu Railway Station, Xishuangbanna Railway Station, Ganlanba Railway Station, Mengla Station and Mohan Station. After the opening of China-Laos Railway linking them together, it will greatly facilitate tourists to appreciate the beautiful scenery of Yunnan and feel the characteristics of different ethnic groups. Yuanjiang Railway Station

Yuanjiang Railway Station has a construction area of 2979.84 square meters, with a maximum gathering number of 600 people. The overall design of the hall fully integrates the national characteristics of Yuanjiang.

Ning’er Railway Station

Ning’er Railway Station.  The building area is about 8000 square meters. With the design concept of "colorful tea town, cultural Ning’er", the eaves organically combine with the facade, extending step by step from the first floor to the roof, shaped like a tea mountain. The exterior facade is in the form of metal grids interlaced with each other, like the shape of a small tea basket, fully showing the historical and cultural connotation of Ninger as an important town of tea horse ancient Road.

Pu’er Railway Station

The construction area is about 12,000 square meters, with the design concept of "Tea horse Ancient Road, Yunnan Post Station". The outer facade of the station  chooses dark brown color similar to Pu 'er tea as the main color. The suspended ceiling of the waiting hall adopts the shape of tea in a large area. It makes travelers feel like they're in a tea garden.

Xishuangbanna Railway Station

The building area is about 10,000 square meters, and the roof shape extracts the elements of traditional dai folk houses. The eaves on both sides of the station are stacked and turned up, and they dance like peacocks to welcome visitors from all over the world. It only takes more than 3 hours from Kunming city of Yunnan Province to Jinghong City of Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture.

Ganlanba Railway Station

The building area is about 2500 square meters, with "tropical style, colorful Ganlanba" as the design concept. The railway station has one floor above ground and one underground. The station is full of tropical atmosphere.

Mohan Railway Station

The Mohan Station, built into a hillside, is on the Chinese border with Laos, connecting China at one end and the Friendship Tunnel with Laos at the other. The station is about 3,500 meters long and 400 meters wide, covering a total area of more than 1.9 million square meters, with domestic and international train arrival and departure lines. The facade of the station house is mainly red and white, which is beautiful and magnificent. Mohan station is the first new frontier station in southwest China in this century.
