Unlike many urban railway stations, the construction of Hefei Railway Station was initially linked to the "new urban area". And in February 1996 was approved by the Ministry of Construction for the national urban comprehensive development pilot area. It can be seen that Hefei Station plays an important role in changing the appearance of the city by setting up a new urban area for the new station.
